Sketches cover the crumblings drywall underneath the many paintings, fluttering from the wind coming through the cracked window. The early sun’s light fills the room. The sounds of a ball-point pen scratch at paper while she sleeps.
It’s cold; snowing outside. She likes the cold; being bundled up under an ocean of blankets. The skin of her back seems so flawless, as if the hand of God himself has sculpted it. Her face captures the soft light that comes through the window. She is an artist’s dream.
His hands grip the pen the best he can, struggling at times to keep from shivering. Carefully sketching the small arch of her back; working his way up to her face. This is his favorite time to sketch her. He loves the challenge of catching her essence while she sleeps.
